important is our stance When you ve standing upright do you have your feet placed firmly on the ground or are they crossed in front of you Crossing legs shuts out the world just like crossing arms but it also exudes an image of instability and uncertainty especially if we ve constantly shifting our weight Standing upright and firm doesn t just involve the shoulders it involves the whole body and head to toe Too much eye contact moderation is essential Eye contact is important but it can backfire if we ve staring too intently without any breaks People get into the habit of slouching or keeping their eyes fixed downward in an effort to compensate for something they feel they re lacking but if they start accentuating their good qualities and forgetting about what they wish they had they d be more likely to want to show this off Checking the time or your phone is a no goer Anytime we ve not fully engaged in the conversation our body language will show it Nothing says I m bored like checking a watch or yawning in the company of someone else but the list doesn t stop there Gazing into the distance looking at a cell phone or exhibiting any signs of utter boredom in the company of others is generally considered impolite Our body language says a lot about us Before we even open our mouths to speak a person can tell if we ve angry unhappy nervous or confident We can also learn a lot about ourselves if we start to pay attention to the way we walk or stand or what we do with our hand and legs First we have to notice we ve giving off the wrong signals with our body language then we
