post I have to fully agree NZ Politics drives me potty We work hard we pay tax on our earnings we pay tax on petrol groceries and just about everything we need day to day As a middle class hard working family with two children we receive nothing back from our Government we help to fund this country and the Politicians who run it So to have to come home at end of a hard days working and raising a young family to watch Politicians behaving less rationally than pre school children accusing each other of rubbish we really don t want to hear about swearing and cursing at reporters or just making smug narcissistic comments in reply to the questions we really want answers to I am at a loss as to who gets my vote next month let s hope our someone in our less than appealing pod of Politicians can rise above the manure and lead the way in the matters that are really important to us all On a more fun note I finally got skiing last week and LOVED it fully keen to get back up the mountain and hone in my newly found skiing talent Such a fantastic place to be up Mt Hutt on a sunny clear day fresh air in your lungs and only 30mins from home how lucky are we Planning to head up again next week My aim is to keep up with my 8yr old daughter Have a great week everyone Becks Comments Disabled Trackbacks 0 Permalink Honest days work David Molloy Friday August 15 2014 Is anyone having doubts at the moment about the integrity of the Political Parties of New Zealand I go home at night feeling satisfied that I have done an honest days work and that hopefully I have made a difference However then I turn on the News and hear about all these Politicians who we vote and pay for have got nothing better to do than dish the dirt on the opposition Even our Cabinet Ministers are at it Blogging their so called friends at Whale Oil Beef Hooked I know there is an election next month but I would far rather hear about how they are going to make New Zealand a better place than what nicknames they have for each other Although some are mildly amusing The above Blog site is of course an interesting play on words especially if said quickly with an Irish accent I really think these people should get over it and do some real work I mean Far Canal Another play on words Gregor Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Spraying Agrichemicals Liquid Nitrogen Agrecovery Bateman Parts David Molloy Monday August 11 2014 It would seem that spring has arrived with us some ground that had been in crops for winter grazing is now clear and dry an ideal time with this nor west wind for cultivating and drilling into next years crops With so much happening

develop and move across the Pacific including New Zealand During El Nino the Trade Winds weaken and the sea temperatures rise As the winds spiral downwards the sea temperatures rise and so on When can we expect it El Nino tends to get going around May or June with the system really kicking in by August or September and reaching its peak around Christmas time when the trade winds are weakest What is to come Settled periods are expected with clear sunny days and frosty mornings However they are broken with stronger westerly winds and can be more southwesterly meaning cooler wetter conditions on the West Coast of the South Island but drier conditions on the East You could argue that we have recently entered a period of El Nino I would caution the implications for the Canterbury Plains could be for a rather dry Spring and Summer and something to bear in mind Gregor Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Wrong Timing David Molloy Wednesday June 18 2014 Earlier in the week both Gregor myself went to the Pioneer annual South Island get together in Ashburton to hear about their new maize varieties and a bit of a season post mortem Most growers were rather disappointed with their maize crops this year with yields somewhat down on previous years As most of you will know maize is a crop which relies on and relishes sunlight and corresponding Heat units to maximise growth Well think back to last Summer and I can hear many of you saying What Summer Despite thinking we may not have had much of a Summer overall radiation levels recorded were actually not much below the norm or long term averages However it was more about timing and wrong weather at the wrong time You might think where s this all going but it s all about getting ideal growing conditions at the right time for the crops growth stage If you can remember back to November we experienced higher than normal levels of radiation for this time of year and although this may have helped with germination and establishment it would have little impact on final yield Where crops really missed out was through the tassling and silking and beyond when they were producing cobs right through to harvest As most of you were trying to harvest your grain and seed crops you will not forget the continued wet dull days throughout January and February conditions less than favourable for maize Despite seeing some better weather in March both April and May were wet creating harvesting difficulties and many crops harvested at less than ideal Dry matter All to often the weather is used as a scape goat and blamed when things don t go quite right or somethings not been done In this case if you sit down and analyse it it seems quite logical to have been a major factor why you may have been disappointed with your maize yield Well That s the
