  • reading and scanning was the most common online reading behaviour of respondents and as a result people were getting through more material Many respondents said they had learnt to read faster and more selectively which is positive but also said they were more likely to remember material they had read offline It was still common practice for many people to print out material they considered most important The research indicates that we still read in a linear print based fashion However the structure of much of what we are reading is inappropriate for the way in which we re receiving information now We need to learn how to read and write digitally as well as how to effectively interpret and retain information we read online Police benefit from time management principles 11th May 2014 A keystone principle in managing time and tasks effectively is to prioritise tasks so that what has to be done first gets done first It s a common habit that we tackle tasks first that are the quickest to complete or the things that are the most interesting and enjoyable And typically leave unread that BORING report or that difficult meeting So often our procrastination is labelled laziness but actually it isn t There are many reasons we put off doing what we should be doing So we fill the day with being very busy and getting a lot done but omit to do the critical things which should be done Our suggestion is that at the start of each day we list the tasks to be done The put A beside those that must be done today Now certain occupations police emergency workers managers and supervisors the work is unpredictable People in these occupations claim that they cannot prioritise their tasks as the tasks change

  • It was sad to see so many people who had paid a lot to take a stand almost completely fail to make any business out of it through being unable to make conversation The other has been at home interviewing tradesmen about work we want done Few really listen to our needs and to answer the question that was asked I ve been frequently engaged by companies and individuals to help their staff learn how to make conversation and talk and listen to clients It is a skill anyone can learn Responding ethically 19th Mar 2014 In the upcoming workshop for future consultants I decided one important topic is how to respond ethically to incorrect information spread by competitors Our own responses are part of our own moral code and for spiritual peace we need to think about what is the right thing to do More News News 21st Nov 2015 Are you paying way too much for your staff development 21st Nov 2015 Speed Reading in Christchurch Events 21st Nov 2015 to 1st Feb 2017 Conflict Resolution at work and at home 21st Nov 2015 to 1st Aug 2016 Minutes Chairing meetings and writing minutes Subscribe Sign up to

  • all day 29th Nov 2013 At a recent rapid reading workshop I was teaching the discussion turned to procrastination and putting off tackling those tedious reading tasks It s easy to either read the shortest items the most interesting or the most pressing and to put off the must do material In my work I have found this is often that fat report In reading the report you want first to graze across it and not go from A to Z Read the title the executive summary the recommendations the contents the research methods the findings With your highlighter or a pen briefly note the content relevant to your work Determine where your interest lies what do you need from it Be willing to forgo any parts of the report you don t need you may need to exercise some self discipline and not give in to feelings of duty It s not cheating to not read what you don t need it s just a sensible use of your time More News News 21st Nov 2015 Are you paying way too much for your staff development 21st Nov 2015 Speed Reading in Christchurch Events 21st Nov 2015 to 1st
