  • Dunedin Swim Squad Structure
    Tri Squad the swimmer must meet the following requirements Swim continuously for 45 minutes Tri Surf Squad swimmers have the option to train up to 4 sessions per week D Squad Selection Criteria The D Squad is the transition squad between club swimming and DSCB training To gain entry to the D Squad the swimmer must meet the following requirements Swim 400 to 600 meters freestyle backstroke and breaststroke D Squad swimmers train 1 or 2 sessions per week and are expected to attend their club swimming sessions during the week C Squad Selection Criteria The C Squad is the entry level or development squad To gain entry to the C Squad the swimmer must meet the following requirements Swim 200 meters freestyle backstroke and breaststroke Swim 100 meters butterfly Demonstrate proficiency at a competition race start Perform correct turns and be able to finish on all four strokes C Squad swimmers train 4 sessions per week B Squad Selection Criteria Prior to moving up to the B Squad the swimmer must achieve a specific FINA Point rating based on the swimmers age The requirements will be discussed individually with the swimmer and the swimmers parents B squad trains 5

    Dunedin was established in 2012 in response to pressures on water space in Dunedin pools at peak training times Many of these pressures were perceived to be caused by the previous system of allocation of lane space to professional coaches In order to avoid competition between coaches and to provide a structured approach to both coach and athlete development DSCB was formed At present Swim Dunedin has over 190 registered

    swim coach with such experience and ability and we are confident that Gennadiy can develop our swimmers to be champions at the highest national and international levels Gennadiy Phone 027 630 0996 email genaswim yahoo com Simon Cook DSCB Assistant Coach Simon spent his formative years in Wellington relocating to Dunedin in 2009 to study at the University of Otago where he met his wife and never returned home After an early realisation he would never make the Black Caps Simon dedicated his sporting efforts to swimming snagging a small collection of National Age Group medals for backstroke At age of 16 Simon left competitive swimming to pursue musical commitments with no intentions of returning to the pool However after completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Pharmacology Simon found himself teaching swimming where he gravitated towards teaching older swimmers He made the full leap into coaching in 2013 when the DSCB took over coaching administration at Moana Pool As a musician Simon has toured internationally with the New Zealand Secondary Students Choir winning multiple titles and international awards He holds the Royal Schools Grade 8 Piano Certificate but particularly enjoys strumming a ukulele in his down time Although Simon has had a continuing involvement in cultural activities he now spends time tracking down interesting music to listen and share Simon is a Christian and is involved with Dunedin City Baptist Church He is also a Whovian who enjoys a good game card board video or otherwise Simon email need simon gmail com Stephen Fenemor DSCB Strength and Conditioning Coach Performance Nutritionist Stephen originates from Motueka During Stephen s teenage years he played representative Rugby and Cricket for Nelson Bays and swam competitively for Nelson Marlborough at various age group levels Before coming to Dunedin to attend University Stephen went
